Introduction

Welcome to Hadi (“we,” “our,” or “us”). Hadi is developed by Medorius Ltd in partnership with Middle Community, a registered charity. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience when using our application (“app,” “service”).

This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we store it, and what rights you have in relation to it. By using Hadi, you agree to the practices described in this policy. Please read it carefully.


Information We Collect

1. Location Information

We collect precise and approximate location data to provide core app functionality, including accurate prayer times for your location, finding nearby mosques, showing the Qibla direction, and displaying relevant maps.

Location data is collected only while you are actively using the app. It is used in real-time to deliver these features and is not permanently stored on our servers. You can disable location services at any time through your device settings, though this may affect core app functionality.

2. User Account Information (Optional)

You may choose to create a Hadi user account. Account creation is entirely optional, and the app’s core features remain fully accessible without one. If you choose to create an account, we collect and store the following information:

  • Email address – Used for account identification, authentication, and important service communications.
  • Prayer settings and preferences – Including your preferred calculation method, madhab, prayer time adjustments, theme settings, and notification preferences. These are stored to sync your settings across devices and ensure a consistent experience.
  • Bookmarks and saved content – Any custom dhikrs, du’as, Qur’an bookmarks, or other content you choose to save to your account.

Account data is stored securely on our servers and is associated with your email address. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time (see “Your Rights and Choices” below).

3. Device Information

We collect basic device information to optimise app performance and deliver notifications reliably. This includes your device model, operating system version, device settings, battery information, and time zone. This data is used solely for technical purposes and is not linked to your identity.

4. App Activity and Usage Data

We collect information about how you interact with the app, including prayer time preferences, notification settings, bookmarks, saved locations, and app performance data. For users without an account, this information is stored locally on your device. For users with an account, certain preferences are synced to our servers as described above.

5. Audio Data

We access audio settings and audio files on your device solely for the purpose of playing the Adhan (call to prayer) and delivering notification sounds. No audio recordings are made or transmitted.


How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide accurate, location-based prayer times
  • Show nearby mosques and Qibla direction
  • Enable and manage prayer notifications
  • Sync your settings and preferences across devices (account holders)
  • Improve app performance, stability, and functionality
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues
  • Communicate important service updates to account holders

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing and improving the Hadi app.


Data Storage and Security

We take the security of your data seriously and implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it.

  • Location data is processed in real-time and is not permanently stored on our servers.
  • Local app data (for users without accounts) is stored on your device and can be cleared through your device settings.
  • Account data (for users with accounts) is stored securely on our servers using industry-standard encryption.
  • All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.

We retain account data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, your data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.


Third-Party Services

Our app integrates the following third-party services:

  • Google Maps – Used for nearby mosque location services

Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy and data handling practices. We encourage you to review their respective policies.


Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We only share data in the following limited circumstances:

  • With Google Maps to provide location-based features.
  • If required by law, regulation, or legal process.
  • To protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.

Children’s Privacy

Our app is suitable for users of all ages. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction) without parental consent. Account creation is not intended for children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove that information promptly.


Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data. These include:

  • Disable location services – Through your device settings at any time.
  • Opt out of notifications – Through the app settings or your device settings.
  • Delete locally stored data – By clearing the app data or uninstalling the app.
  • Delete your account – If you have created a Hadi account, you can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email address below. Alternatively you can use the ‘Delete Account’ button on the account page in the Hadi app. Your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
  • Access your data – You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct your data – You can update your email address and preferences through the app, or contact us for assistance.
  • Withdraw consent – You can withdraw consent for data processing at any time, though this may affect your ability to use certain features.
  • Control app permissions – Through your device settings.

International Data Transfers

If you are accessing Hadi from outside the United Kingdom, please be aware that your data may be transferred to and processed in the UK, where our servers are located. By using the app, you consent to this transfer. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.


Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the updated policy within the app or on our website, with the revised “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
